I have thoroughly enjoyed primary care office practice and I greatly enjoy practicing medicine. But office practice by its nature significantly limits a physician’s ability to do other things. My time in office practice has been very enjoyable and well spent. But it is time to open the door to other things I enjoy.
Some things I will have time to do that I have long been unable to do (in no particular order):
- I will continue my Nursing Home practice.
- I will explore the possibility of doing more consulting.
- I enjoy writing, and I write fantasy books. I have 3 of a series of 5 written that are second drafts but they will require significant attention and time to properly finish.
- I love teaching but have not had the time with an active office practice. I plan to explore opportunities for this in the local area not just in medicine but in my other areas of interest and expertise as well.
- I was a programmer before I was a chemist before I was a doctor, and I write (program) RPG and MMO games in the fantasy genre.
- I was a math/chemistry major in college (before med school), and I love reading about, learning and programming cryptography.
- I have 6 wonderful grandchildren in a large age spread that are very “active” and enjoyable.
- I love music: classical, pop, opera, orchestral, religeous and several others. I have been a choir director and played instruments and piano. It will be wonderful to have time to do those things again.
